A man died when his home caught fire at Heideveld on the Cape Flats on Monday, the city’s fire department said.

Cape Town Fire department shift supervisor Paul Josephs said they received a call at 02:17 about a house that was on fire.

“On arrival, firefighters found a man had fatally burnt.”

Josephs said it was not yet known what had caused the fire.
