The Advanced Life Support paramedic who is on duty for the Johannesburg Northern Regions was driving near the intersection of Main and Bruton in Bryanston this morning when he was approached by a man, asking whether he would be able to treat a patient that had been stabbed.

The paramedic immediately got the correct information and made his way with the man to where his friend was found walking along the road a short distance away. The ambulance had already been dispatched to the incident.

The man’s friend said that there had been some sort of altercation between two parties the night before and the disgruntled people from the other party had then allegedly assaulted the patient some time this morning. They were not sure of what to do, so they walked around looking for help, fortunately coming across the ER24 paramedic.

The man, in his early 30′s, had a wound on his back, and although he was in a stable condition at this time, would need thorough examination at a medical facility to determine the damage to his organs on the inside. He was taken per ambulance to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg.

The Police would be informed of the incident to conduct their necessary investigations into the incident.

The man was found lying in the grass outside of the house with his two friend standing over him with growing concern at his condition. The local police escorted the paramedics to where they found the man with what appeared to be more than 20 wounds across the entire surface of his body.

Being awake, the man was in a great deal of pain and he was losing a lot of blood. Paramedics quickly started stabilising the injured man and attending to his multiple wounds. His friends assisted the paramedics where they could, holding equipment and passing them their necessary tools.

To speed up the time of the man’s transport to hospital, a Medicopter was called in which met the ambulance crew at the Meyerton Fire Station and he was airlifted to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg. His injuries were extremely critical and the trauma team at the hospital were awaiting his arrival.

The police will investigate the exact details of the incident.

A teenager and a domestic worker are both in a serious condition after allegedly being assaulted at a residence in Howick this afternoon. Just after twelve o’clock this afternoon ER24 paramedics rushed out to a call at a residence in the Howick West area where two people had allegedly been assaulted.

When they arrived on the scene, they were directed by the Howick SAPS and members of the family to were the patients were found. The domestic worker had sustained a head injury during the assault and needed specialised equipment to help protect her from any further injury.

The teenager was assessed by the paramedics and found that he had sustained a possible gunshot wound to the leg. He was stabilised by means of advanced life support intervention. Both were transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition for further medical care. The motive around the assault is yet unclear but the local SAPS from Howick will be investigating the incident further.

Residents took to the streets over poor service delivery at the informal settlement. Traffic on Beyers Naude Drive and Peter Road was diverted when protesters blocked the roads with rocks and burning tyres.

Live rounds of ammunition could be heard ringing out through the chaotic demonstration.

Earlier, the tyres of a police nyala was shot out, raising fears that some residents were armed.

Hundreds of angry protesters also looted shops along Bayers Naude Drive.

Police were forced to firing rubber bullets at unruly demonstrators who were throwing rocks.

Extra resources were called to the scene to assist the paramedics in stabilising the patients.
It is not clear what led to the incident, however bystanders on the scene explained to paramedics that a fight broke out and people started stabbing each other.

All five of the men were rushed to a local hospital for further medical management.

The police also attended the scene.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man seated on the grass verge near the road with his shirt completely soaked in blood. The patient by this stage was in a serious condition because of the massive stab wound that he had sustained. The patient was stabilised and transported to Northdale Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is believed that the patient to be in mid twenties was walking to the shops when he was attacked and stabbed by the suspects.

SAPS were on the scene and would investigate the incident further.

ER24 paramedics were called to the mountain behind The Glen shopping center for a patient that had suffered suspected gunshot wounds after he was robbed of some of his property on his person. The motive behind the shooting is as yet not known, but it believed that there are a number of informal dwellings on the mountain, and the man was either visiting or lives in the area.

He was allegedly walking along the mountain when an unknown number of armed men approached him, and he was robbed and shot. Paramedics could not reach the man with their vehicles, and thus had to walk up the 600 meters, with all of their equipment, to where the patient was lying. He had sustained three wounds to his body, two in the lower region of his stomach and right thigh, as well as a wound to his left shoulder. The man remained in an alert and orientated state, although he was in severe pain. Paramedics gave him the appropriate medication, strapped him into a spine board and carried him down the mountain while the ER24

Discovery Medicopter made their way to a nearby school where they landed to begin loading the patient.
The man was airlifted to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesberg where he was handed over in a stable condition.

Police will be investigating.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man lying on the floor in a pool of blood. The patient who was still responsive had been stabbed with the steak knife and it was embedded into his head. Advanced life support intervention had to be performed on the patient due to the severity of the incident. The patient was stabilised further, making sure the knife did not move from his head and was transported to a nearby hospital in a critical condition where trauma staff where waiting.

It is believed that an argument had broken out and the man was then stabbed and assaulted. It is unclear what caused the argument but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the incident further.

ER24 paramedics from Pietermaritzburg were called out to assist Hilton SAPS after a family feud ended badly with two sisters fighting. One of the sisters was stabbed in the back and sustained 5 degree burns to her back and abdomen after being thrown with boiling water over her, narrowly missing her one year old child which she was carrying at the time of the fight.

Paramedics had to put up a drip to give fluids and pain medication. She was taken to Northdale Hospital for further medical treatment. The one year child was taken for a general check up.

It is unclear what caused the sisters fight or how it progressed to such violence.
Hilton SAPS will be investigating the incident further.

At approximately 07:30 this morning a Table view resident exited his house to fetch his news paper, still dressed in his sleeping attire. He was then attacked by a male with a large knife, presumably a Panga. The resident then managed to block most of the blows from the blade, sustaining serious injuries to his head and hands. He then managed to wrestle his attacker to the ground and subdue the man before law enforcement arrived at the scene.

ER24 paramedics treated the man for multiple lacerations at the scene, before transporting him to hospital. It seems that on this Friday the 13th the big, bad man with the large knife did not win.
