3 people have died and 3 others sustained injuries following a collision on the R549 this afternoon.

The cause of the collision is unknown, but a passenger vehicle with 6 occupants had collided with a tipper truck. The collision resulted in the passenger vehicle overturning multiple times.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found that 3 of the occupants in the passenger vehicle, 2 female passengers and the male driver, had sustained various fatal injuries. They were later declared dead at the scene.

The 3 other occupants sustained injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries to various scrapes and bruises. They received treatment at the scene before being transported to a nearby medical facility for further care.

The driver of the tuck sustained no injuries in the incident and refused any on-scene treatment or transportation. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.

13 people sustained various injuries this morning following a single vehicle collision on the Ventersdorp road outside of Potchefstroom.

The cause of the collision is unknown, but a single minibus taxi had veered from the road, allegedly to avoid colliding with a buck, before overturning. When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found a total of 13 individuals in need of medical attention.

All of the patients were treated at the scene for various injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries to multiple scrapes and bruises.

All the patients were later transported to a nearby medical facility by ER24 and another ambulance service. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.

15 people have sustained injuries after a collision between two light motor vehicles and a taxi at the intersection of Howard Street and Howick main Road in Howick CBD area this morning.

ER24 and EMRS arrived on the scene to find the taxi on its side and the two light motor vehicles close by with extensive damage to both vehicles. The commuters from the taxi were found outside of the vehicle seated near to the pavement. The patients were assessed and found that three people had sustained suspected neck and back and were placed on specialised boards to protect their spines from any further injury. Twelve other patients including a driver from one of the light motor vehicles were treated for minor to moderate injuries, which ranged from small cuts and bruises to general body pains. All patients were stabilised on scene and transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.

It is unclear who was at fault but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further. The road had to be closed to traffic while the emergency personnel treated and stabilised the patients.

A woman driving a VW Polo on Nirvana Drive in Lenasia allegedly aquaplaned in her vehicle after heavy rains in the area.

The woman in her 30′s was luckily uninjured but her car crashed through a stand on the side of the road where a man sells vegetables. The man was also fortunately not injured, but his stand was ruined.

Motorists should make sure they reduce their speed, increase their following distance from the vehicle in front of them and drive with their head lights on in wet weather conditions.

An elderly gentleman has died after colliding with a wall.

The accident took place on High Road near Orchid Road. The driver, in his early 70′s was traveling along High road when the accident occured. While the exact cause of the accident is not known, it is believed that the driver may have suffered from a medical condition that contributed to the accident.

ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene to find the driver still behind the wheel but he had unfortunately succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.

The relevant authorities are investigating the accident.

A 55 year old man sustained moderate injuries this morning after he was allegedly struck off his motorbike in Gordons Bay.

The cause of the collision is unknown, but the man was driving on Faura Marine Drive when a motor vehicle allegedly collided with his motorbike, knocking him to the ground.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the man in the middle of the road. He was in severe pain. Paramedics treated the man at the scene for a suspected back and neck injury as well as a suspected shoulder injury and various scrapes and bruises.

The man was later transported to Mediclinic Vergelegen for further medical care. The driver of the motor vehicle sustained no injuries. Local law enforcement officials who attended the scene will be investigating the incident further.

A father and son are in a serious condition after a collision between an articulated truck and a bakkie on the N12 about 5km outside of Fochville in the direction of Potchefstroom this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the truck across the N12 with the bakkie up against the side of the trailer with extensive damage to the front of it. The two occupants of the bakkie believed to be father and son were entrapped and were in a serious condition. The Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment were used to extricate them from the vehicle by the local Fire Department so paramedics could stabilise them further. The son, who is believed to be 21, had suffered multiple broken bones and suspected chest and head injury from the impact of the collision.

While Advanced Life Support intervention was being performed, the ER24 Discovery Medicopter was called to the scene to airlift the son to hospital for rapid further medical intervention.

The father was stabilised by the provincial ambulance service on the scene and was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care. The driver of the truck was uninjured in the accident.

It is believed that the driver of the truck was doing a u-turn on a blind rise when the collision occurred. The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the incident further.

A young boy of approximately 10 to 12 years old has sustained critical injuries after being knocked by a car in Vanderbijlpark.

The woman who was driving in a Toyota SUV with her two teenage children was driving along Marlbank Road away from the Stokkiesdraai Road when the incident occurred. The child seemed to want to cross the road but may have misjudged the distance of the vehicle. The SUV then knocked him and he was flung onto the roadside.

Paramedics who arrive at the scene immediately initiated life saving treatment on the boy. He was barely conscious and he needed to be placed on an external breathing machine. He also required extensive treatment for a severely broken leg. The ER24 Discovery Medicopter was then dispatched to the incident so as to take the child to an appropriate medical facility in Johannesburg where he would get the appropriate treatment for his severe injuries.

The adults that were allegedly walking with the child at the time of the incident were not injured, and neither were the woman or her two children in the car.

It is not clear as to what exactly happened to cause the child to be injured so severely but police would be investigating.

A gentleman believed to be in his late 50′s and an owner of a garden refuses service has died, while cutting tree branches and allegedly falling off a three story house in Westville this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics were called to the scene and found the man lying on the concrete floor in a critical condition. Paramedics started Advanced Life Support intervention techniques to save his life but unfortunately the man passed away on scene due to the traumatic injuries he had sustained from the fall.

No one is sure what really happen but it’s believed that heat have lost his footing and fell off the roof.
