A forty three-year-old man was severely burnt after a fire broke out at a petrol station in Knysna.

It is alleged that the man was pumping diesel out of fuel tanker at the petrol station when, somehow, diesel spilt on him and he caught alight.

The man sustained extensive severe burns and was stabilised by paramedics on scene before being rushed to Knysna Private Hospital in a critical condition.

A pedestrian to be in her mid twenty’s was knocked down after a bakkie and a car collided at the intersection of Boshoff and Prince Alfred street in Pietermaritzburg this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find a bakkie wedged between a gate, a fence and the robot, while the light motor vehicle was found close by mounted on the pavement. The pedestrian was found on the pavement complaining of severe pain to her leg.

The pedestrian was treated for a possible broken leg while the driver of the bakkie was treated for possible neck and back injuries. Both were stabilised on the scene and transported to Northdale Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is unclear who was at fault but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would be investigating the incident further.

A 28yr old male has sustained serious injuries to his legs after being attacked by a dog in Pietermaritzburg this morning. The incident took place in Burger street.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the man sitting on the floor and blood coming from his legs. Paramedics investigated further to find the man had sustained multiple dog bites to his legs. He was stabilised and transported to Northdale in a serious but stable condition for further medical care.

It is believed that the man was walking along burger street nearing his home, when a resident in Burger street had opened the gate to drive out, when his dog got out and attacked the man. The reason for the attack is unknow.

A 24yr old petrol attendant is in a critical condition after his leg was caught between a truck and concrete pillar near the petrol pump in Cato Ridge this morning.

ER24 and EMRS paramedics arrived on the scene to find the man lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Paramedics had to cut away his pants to expose how severe his injury was. The patient had sustained severe traumatic injuries to his left leg and needed advanced life support intervention. He was placed on drip and given analgesic medication while paramedics from both services stabilised his leg. The patient was placed into the Red Cross Air Mercy Helicopter and transported to Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic in a critical but stable condition.

It is unclear how the petrol attendant got his leg stuck between the pillar and truck but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would be investigating the incident further.

A 6yr old child was killed this morning after being struck down by a taxi on Sweetwater’s Road in the Sweetwater’s Location of Pietermaritzburg.

ER24 paramedics along with EMRS arrived on the scene to find the young child lying in the road in a pool of blood. The child had sustained severe fatal and traumatic injuries and was declared deceased on scene by the paramedics.

The drive of the taxi was treated for shock but did not want to go to hospital. It is believed that the young child ran across the road without supervision and was knocked down by the taxi.

The necessary authorities were on the scene and would be investigating the incident further.

A six year old child has sustained serious injuries after falling three meters from a bridge in Imbali which is in Edendale, Pietermaritzburg this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics from Pietermaritzburg were contacted by the local police to inform them of the incident. On the way to the scene, paramedics were flagged down by a principal who was transporting the young boy to hospital.

The young patient was examined and found that he had sustained serious injuries and needed advanced life support intervention. The child was placed on a specialised board before being removed from the car. He was transported to Edendale Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is believed that the young patient was playing with his friends, when he slipped and fell over a bridge.

A collision between a bakkie and a car left five people injured at the on-ramp to Mew Way from the N2, near Khayelitsha.

The five patients, of which three were pedestrians and two were occupants of the bakkie, sustained minor injuries and were taken to various surrounding hospitals for further medical care.

It is alleged that the bakkie was turning onto Mew Way and was hit from the side by a Toyota RunX. This caused the bakkie to go up onto the pavement and hit the three pedestrians who were waiting for a taxi. Dense fog is thought to be a contributing factor in this collision.

The incident occurred in Die Boord, Stellenbosch, at around 10 am this morning. A 54 year old man was allegedly trimming his hedges at his private residence while standing on a 2 meter high ladder.

The man allegedly lost his balance and fell off the ladder. He landed with the 30 centimeter long pruning shears impaled into the left side of his chest, just below his collar bone.

As ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found that the shears had been removed from the man’s chest, he was unresponsive, and he had lost alot of blood. They immediately started CPR, and Advanced Life Support intervention was initiated.

Despite all efforts to resuscitate the man, attempts were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Stellenbosch SAPS were on scene and will handle the necessary investigation.

Durban ( Central ) Smith Street Near To Russell Street.

A young man to be in his early twenty’s is in a critical condition after been struck down by a motor vehicle on Smith Street in the early hours of this morning.

ER24 Advanced Life Support paramedic arrived on the scene to find the man lying in the middle of the road with a Metro Police blocking parts of the road so that he would not be hit by any other vehicle’s that were travelling out of Durban.

The man had sustained severe head injuries and needed Advanced Life Support Intervention to be performed on him. The patient was intubated and placed on a manual breathing machine on the scene. He was transported to Addington Hospital in a critical condition for further medical care.

It is believed that the man was crossing the quite road of Smith Street when he was struck by a passing vehicle that was travelling along the road. The vehicle that was involved with this accident did not stop on the scene. Metro Police will be investigating the hit and run case.

Two pedestrians were hit by a car while walking to work on Viking Road in Epping Industria this morning.

Both pedestrians, as well as the driver of the car, sustained moderate injuries and were taken to Tygerberg Hospital.

It is alleged that the driver of the car swerved for a truck, hit a lamp-post and then hit the pedestrians, before crashing into a brick drain cover and the car overturning.
