Workers injured at Rosebank construction site

Two workers were injured at a construction site this afternoon in the Rosebank area. It is believed that the workers were working about 6 meters above ground level when the steel structure they were on collapsed. One man fell down to the ground level while the other was lying on the 5th floor of the building.

Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene and found that one of the workers was critically injured while the other sustained serious injuries. Paramedics worked fervently to stabilise the wounded workers while a high angle rescue system had to be erected to get the patients to an area where they could be loaded into an ambulance. The rescue operation was very difficult and lasted for almost two hours.

The critically injured patient was transported to the Netcare Milpark hospital for treatment while the seriously injured patient was transported to the Rose bank Clinic for treatment.
