Plane wreckage found in Hartbeespoort

Searchers have found the wreckage of a small plane that crashed in Hartbeespoort in North West on Wednesday morning, the Civilian Aviation Authority (CAA) said.

The wreckage was found by police helicopter at about 10:15, said CAA spokesperson Phindile Gwebu.

Netcare 911 paramedics and the emergency services arrived on scene and had to scale the mountain on foot. When they arrived at the crash site they found that the plane had burst into flames on impact sadly both the pilot and his passenger died in this horrific accident.

The plane left Krugersdorp on Wednesday morning and was on its way to Wonderboom Airport in Pretoria when it crashed.
