Two hurt in North Coast Road minibus smash

Two passengers of a minibus taxi have been seriously injured when the people carrier was wedged between a truck and a rollback tow truck on Durban’s North Coast Road at the Blackburn Road junction this morning.

It is thought that the tow truck had come to a halt at the intersection waiting for the signal to change, with the minibus slowing to a stop behind it. An articulated truck also Durban was unable to stop in time and collided with the taxi, forcing it to crash into the tow truck in front.

The injured were treated and stabilised by Netcare911 Paramedics at the scene before they were transported by ambulance to the Netcare Umhlanga and Addington Hospital for further medical care.

Traffic on the roadway was obstructed while emergency service personnel cleared the scene.
