On Friday Spanish bullfighter Julio Aparicio got severely injured after getting a fatal goring from a half ton bull in Madrid during a bull fight. It is a popular sport in Spain but at times it can prove to be life threatening. The bull caught the matador under his chin and its horn tore his throat and emerged through his mouth. It was a horrific sight. The crowd started screaming in horror as they witnessed the scene. Within a few moments the matador was lifted to the air and then dashed on the ground. The fellow matadors chased away the bull and tried to save the life of the critically injured matador.
The matador was gasping for breath and fighting for his life. He was spluttering blood and found it hard to stand on his feet. Then he was taken from the ring to the hospital. He had to undergo a long and complicated surgery. The doctors performed an emergency tracheotomy on him and tried to reconstruct his jaw, throat, and tongue that were severely damaged in the attack. The matador is now in the ICU of the hospital and gained consciousness. However, he will need a long time to recover fully.
At first the doctors feared he may not survive considering the serious goring he received from the raging bull. The matador has bullfighting in his veins. His father was also a renowned matador. The images and the video of the dreadful goring are posted on the web but they are thought to be too gory for general public. He is one of the best Spanish matadors.

Update: The Spanish bullfighter since left intensive care and was recovering satisfactorily in a Madrid hospital after a bull’s horn ripped through his throat, pierced his tongue and smashed his palate.
