Aerocare air ambulance transports boy from Bethlehem to Bloemfontein after fall

Aerocare 18 SeptA small boy from Bethlehem had to be transported via air ambulance for urgent medical attention after he was critically injured in a fall earlier today. Haniel Oberholzer, son of Frank Oberholzer from Bethlehem was playing at the premises of a business selling caravans when he fell from a considerable height and struck the ground head first. The exact circumstances are still under investigation.

Aerocare was called upon to assist with lifesaving medical air evacuation services. Within 30 minutes the Super King Air 200 air pressurised plane was in the air and transported ICU nurse Karen Jansen and Dr Herman Kruger to the Hoogland Medi-Clinic.

They arrived at approximately 14h30 and it took approximately 2hours to stabilise the patient before evacuation to Bloemfontein.

On arrival at Bloemfontein at 17h40 the ER24 ambulance, Juan Glover from the Rosepark Life hospital response unit and one of the SAPS response units were at hand to ensure speedy delivery of the patient to the hospital.

Haniel is at present in a critical, but stable condition.
