Four miners are trapped underground at Harmony Gold’s Bambanani Mine in the Free State following an earth tremor, the mineral resources department said on Monday.
Eight miners were initially trapped, but four, who sustained minor injuries, were rescued following the 2.1 magnitude tremor, spokesperson Zingaphi Jakuja said.
Operations to get the four other miners out have already started.
The department had sent a senior inspector to conduct a preliminary investigation.
