A 21 year old male was seriously injured this morning when he fell from the train he was traveling on. According to the gentleman it is uncertain how the accident happened, but a mere 100 meters away from the Bellville train station the man fell from the train and landed under the wheels.
When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene the local fire department was already attending to the badly injured man. The man was fully conscious and told the paramedics that the carriage he was in was allegedly quite full.
He sustained significant injuries to his lower extremities as the train amputated both his feet at the ankles. Paramedics worked hard to prevent any further blood loss and stabilized the man at the scene before rushing him to Tygerberg hospital.
