Tragedy has struck at Henley Dam, just outside Pietermaritzburg this afternoon after a thirteen year old boy has drowned.
It is believed that the boy who had been enjoying a leisurely day fishing with his friends, lost his balance and fell off of the dam wall. It is unclear if the young boy was able to swim but he disappeared into the water and his friends were unable to save him.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene by members of the public to help in the incident. Paramedics arrived on the scene and were unable to find the young boy. SAPS Search and Rescue from Pietermaritzburg were called in to help with the search.
At the time of this story being released, the body has not been recovered yet.
