Early morning drowning at Durban beach

A man in his twenties drowned at a Durban beach this morning at around 06h00. It is believed that the man went swimming on the Durban south beach just in front of the Tropicana when he got into difficulty.

Lifeguards raced to the man’s aid and after pulling him out of the water fervently tried to resuscitate him. Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene and assisted with resuscitation attempts for some time. Tragically they were unable to revive the man and he was declared dead on scene.
