er_banner2
A thirty three year American tourist is in a serious condition after hitting her head on a rock and while hiking with fellow friends in Kloof Gorge, just outside Durban this morning.

ER24 and VEMA arrived on the scene and were directed along the 2km pathway to where the patient was lying. The paramedics assessed the patient and found that she had suffered a head injury and was in a serious condition.
Advanced Life Support intervention had to be performed to try and stabilise the patient.

While paramedics were busy stabilising the patient, VEMA’s High Angle rescue unit were coordinating with the SAAF who were going to hoist the patient from out of the gorge because it was too dangerous to carry the patient out.
