Tragedy struck this afternoon after a young adult aged twenty three lost his life in a drowning incident while swimming in a lagoon near Stanger.
Members of public contacted the necessary authorities to inform them that the man had got into some difficulty while swimming. The ER24 Discovery Surf Rescue Medicopter was dispatched to the scene to assist, however the crew arrived on scene and were informed that the man had gone under the water and had not been seen since.
SAPS Search and Rescue were called to assist in the recovery of the body. The body was recovered shortly after.
The circumstances surrounding the drowning are still unclear but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the incident further.
