Accident in Durban between taxi and vehicle transporting prisoners

accidents_defaultAt around Midnight Netcare 911 paramedics responded to an accident at the intersection of Smith and Stanger streets in Durban central. When they arrived on scene they found that a taxi and an official vehicle transporting prisoners had collided. Details to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

The 8 prisoners had sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospital by the police services. Medics found 4 other patients that had sustained serious injuries and a further 10 that escaped with only minor injuries. After the patients were stabilised on scene, two were transported to the Netcare St Augustine’s hospital for the care that they required while the others were taken to Addington hospital for further treatment.
