Ceiling of Restaurant Collapses in Brackenfell injuring Two

er_banner2
A serious incident occurred this afternoon at a family restaurant near Old Paarl road in Brackenfell. Without warning the ceiling of the restaurant collapsed on some of the waiters and customers. A waiter told bystanders that she was standing in the kitchen at the rear of the building when without warning the ceiling collapsed.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene local fire and rescue services were already at the scene attending to the inside of the building. The ceiling including all of its fixtures such as air-conditioning ducts and lighting units where destroyed on the restaurant floor. The inside of the building was dark which made it difficult for rescue personnel to asses the condition of the building.

Two waiters sustained moderate injuries and were treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby medical facility. Fortunately nobody else sustained any injuries. The appropriate authorities will be investigating the incident.
