Man Dies In Shack Fire in Edendale

A man has burnt to death after his shack caught a light on Edendale Road, in Edendale just outside Pietermaritzburg late yesterday evening.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the local community had gathered around while the local Fire Department had just finished extinguishing the fire off what was left of a house. Inside ER24 paramedics found the remains of a man who had burnt to death. It was hard to estimate his age as he was burnt beyond recognition.

It is believed that the man may have been sleeping and the paraffin stove or lamp fell over, causing the house to be engulfed in flames. The necessary authorities were on the scene and would be investigating the incident further. No other damage was done to surrounding buildings.
