Seven Year Old Boy Shot In The Head in Vereeniging

A seven year old boy is fighting his life after sustaining a gunshot wound to his head at a residence in Vereeniging late yesterday evening.

The provincial ambulance service contacted ER24 for assistance, requiring advanced life support and that they would meet on the Old Johannesburg Road. The ER24 paramedics meet with the ambulance and found a seven year boy had sustained gunshot wounds to his head and was in a critical condition. The child had to be stabilised rather urgently and advanced life support intervention had to be performed to help save his life. The little boy was intubated and placed onto a ventilator. While paramedics were stabilising the boy further a medical helicopter was called in to airlift the patient for rapid transportation to a Provincial Hospital for further medical care.

It is unclear what really happen but the family member who was with the ambulance staff at the time said that its alleged that the children were playing and somehow someone open the safe and the gun went off. The necessary authorities would be investigating the incident further.
