Mother saves daughter from drowning

A 19 month old baby girl nearly drowned this afternoon when she fell in the backyard swimming pool at her home in Vereeniging.

The mother of the little girl recalls realizing that she has not visualized her baby girl for approximately 4 minutes and started looking for her daughter. She was shocked to find her little girl floating on top of the water in the swimming pool.

The mother responded quickly and immediately pulled her daughter from the water before starting with artificial respirations. After about seven artificial respirations the mother recalls her baby daughter coughing up some water and started to breath spontaneously.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they revaluated the child’s respiratory level before transporting the mother and child to a nearby medical facility for further treatment.
