Truck accident Leaves Two Injured outside Pietermaritzburg

A truck driver and his conductor had a narrow escape after the articulated truck, that was carrying wooden boards over turned coming down Polly Shorts, just on the out skirts of Pietermaritzburg this morning.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the articulated truck lying upside down with the cargo spread across the road and into the bush. The driver and conductor were found seated on the floor outside the vehicle.

Both patients were assessed on the scene and found that they had suffered minor cuts and bruises but paramedics felt that they needed specialised equipment to help protect their necks and backs due to the mechanism of the accident. Both patients were taken by road to Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic for further medical care.

It is believed that the vehicle was travelling down Polly Shorts, heading towards the N3 when somehow the cargo shifted as he took the corner. The driver then lost control, which caused the whole articulated truck to overturn. The road would be closed to traffic for salvaging purposes.
