16 Year Old Airlifted From Strand

A 14 year old boy was allegedly knocked down by a taxi after he was riding his bicycle along 11th street in Strand.

The taxi is believed to have pulled onto 11th street from a side road and collided into the teen who was coming down the other way. The child was allegedly dragged a few meters before he tried to stand up and then shouted for help.

When ER24 arrived at the scene, the child was still alert but in extreme pain. It appeared that he had a possible break to his right leg as well as internal injuries and extensive scrapes to his arms.

The Advanced Life Support paramedic at the scene immediately called in the ER24 Discovery Medicopter who airlifted the injured boy to Tygerberg Hospital.

The boy’s mother was at the scene and was later taken through to the hospital by relatives.

No one in the taxi was injured.
