Teen With Rugby Injury Airlifted in Somerset West

A 17 year old boy has sustained a possible neck injury after he was injured in a scrum during a school rugby game.

The boy was playing in the game at a High School in Somerset West when his neck allegedly twisted during a scrum. He fell to the ground and standby paramedics rushed to determine the extent of his injury. He complained of severe neck pain and was in a state of mild confusion.

Paramedics immediately called in the ER24 Discovery Medicopter to airlift the teen to hospital. He will undergo more tests at the Cape Gate Medi Clinic to determine the nature and exact extent of his injury.
