A serious motor vehicle accident has occurred on Henley Road in the bends between Brixton and Auckland Park.
It is believed that the red sedan was attempting to turn around in the road when another vehicle was driving in the opposite direction. The two vehicles collided head on and ER24 paramedics at the scene said that both vehicles were extensively damaged. The front passenger of the red sedan was seriously injured and he needed to be cut out of the vehicle using the Jaws of Life.
The extraction process took approximately 30 minutes while Paramedics treated the man for his injuries. The man in his late 30s was stabilised and transported to Milpark hospital for further treatment. The driver of the red sedan and other light motor vehicle sustained minor to moderate injuries and they too were taken to hospital by ambulance.
The road was closed while Emergency Personnel were on scene but has since been reopened.
