Microlight Crashes in Springs

A microlight has allegedly crashed into a field next to Ermelo Road in Springs.

A 40 year old man and his partner were flying in the microlight when they heard a strange sound in the engine. The engine then cut and the pilot then looked for a field to make an emergency landing in. The craft then allegedly started descending rapidly before the wind picked them up and they crashed into the ground.

ER24 paramedics and the Life Glynnwood Advanced Life Support Paramedic assessed the two patients and found that the ma had suffered serious injuries to his lower leg only. The woman had suffered no physical injuries. Both of them were shaken but had been very fortunate to have no been more seriously injured.

The man was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further assessment and treatment.
