Two Trucks Crash on the N12 outside of Potch

One large closed container truck has crashed into the back of another container truck on the N12 approximately 12 kilometres outside of Potchefstroom.

The cause of the collision is not clear, but the paramedics on the scene said that the passenger side of the rear truck collided into the right rear side of the front truck. Both driver and passenger, of the rear truck, both men in their 40’s, were severely entrapped in the truck’s cabin and they needed to be cut out using the Jaws of Life. The passenger was in a critical condition and required immediate life saving treatment. They stabilised the man inside the vehicle before he was cut out and at the same time called the ER24 Discovery Medicopter to airlift the man to hospital. The man was taken to Milpark hospital in Johannesburg where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the rear truck and two male occupants of the front truck sustained minor to moderate injuries and were taken to Hospitals in the Potchefstroom area by ambulance.
