Collision Leaves One Dead, Eleven Others Injured

One person is dead, another two are in a critical condition, another two have sustained serious injuries and seven people have sustained minor to moderate injuries after a collision on the Old South Coast Road in Mobeni, involving a taxi and SUV this morning.

ER24 along with the Provincial ambulance service and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the taxi just off the road with the side of the taxi smashed and the SUV was a few meters up the road in the left hand lane but facing the oncoming traffic.

Patients were found strewed across the little side road that runs alongside the Old South Coast Road. One patient who was found on the verge had already succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased on the scene. Two patients that are in a critical condition had suffered massive trauma to their heads and possible internal injuries. Advanced Life Support Intervention had to be performed on the patients before they could be moved to waiting ambulance. The two other patients that were in a serious condition were complaining of pains to their necks and backs. The remaining seven patients were treated for minor cut and bruises that they had sustained from the accident. All the patients were transported to various hospitals in the greater Durban area for further medical care.

It is unclear who was at fault in this accident but the local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
