Fire Gutters Apartments In Durban CBD

A fire broke out on the second floor of apartments at the corners of Alice Street and Dr Yusaf Dadoo Road (Old Name – Grey Street) in the Durban CBD this afternoon.

Black bellowing smoke could be seen from all around Durban and as emergency personnel approached the scene they did not know what to expect. Once on scene, they noticed the fire was on the second floor of the building and people were been evacuated from it. Fire Department started to get the fire under control while people were still coming out of the building. Three children were treated for difficulty in breathing and given oxygen on the scene. No one else was harmed in the fire.

Once the fire was contained, SAPS Search and Rescue were sent in with other Firemen to make sure no one was harmed or left behind in any of the rooms.
