Trucks Collide on N1 before the Buccleuch Interchange

[Fourways 07 July 2011 14h00]

Two men have sustained minor to moderate injuries after two trucks collided on the N1 before the Buccleuch Interchange in a southerly direction.

The actual details of the accident and how it occurred are not clear but the smaller of the two trucks came to rest facing the opposite direction of traffic. It is believed that the smaller truck crashed into the side of a large 18 wheeler truck causing it to spin out of control.

ER24 paramedics on their way back to Johannesburg from Pretoria came across the incident and immediately assessed the injured men. The two men, who were sitting in the front cab of the smaller truck, and believed to be aged in their late 20’s, had suffered minor to moderate injuries. The one had a serious cut on his head but he had no other serious injuries.

Both men were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The driver and only occupant of the 18 wheeler suffered no physical injury.

It was fortunate that no other vehicles were involved as this is an extremely busy stretch of highway.
