A serious incident occurred in the early hours of this morning at the library close to the Neelsie in Stellenbosch. The cause and events leading up to the incident is still unclear.
ER24 paramedics received a call that a student was found under the arch bridge close to the library. The student had fallen approximately 10 meters from the arch to the ground. When paramedics arrived at the scene there were no other students in sight. The student was found by security staff and was in a critical condition.
The 22 year old male had sustained a severe head and chest injury. Paramedics had to perform Advanced Life Support intervention on the patient. He was then transported to Mediclinic Stellenbosch where he was admitted in a critical condition.
Local law enforcement authorities were at the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
