Marrianhill Collision Leaves Two Serious

[DURBAN – 05 AUGUST 2011 AT 08H00]

Two people have sustained serious injuries and another two people have sustained very minor injuries after a collision involving two light motor vehicles occurred on Richmond Road heading towards Klaarwater near Marrianhill this evening.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the two lanes heading towards Klaarwater was blocked to traffic because of the accident, only one lane was open which the necessary authorities controlled to allow motorist to pass and not cause a build up of traffic.

The driver and passenger of the one car were treated for possible neck and back injuries and needed to be placed on a specialised board before they could be taken out of the vehicle and put into the waiting ambulance for further stabilisation. The other two patients were examined and found that they had suffered very minor injuries and did not want to go to hospital but would wait for their family to take them home. The two patients that were injured were transported to Life Entabeni Hospital and would be kept for observation to see if any serious injuries were done to the body.

It is unclear who was at fault but the local SAPS were on scene and would investigate the accident further.
