A bakkie carrying three passengers lost control and rolled down an embankment and landed into a ditch off the road side along the Bosmandam road near the N7 heading towards Milnerton this evening.

ER24 paramedics and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the bakkie off the road with the canopy sheared off and lying to one side of the vehicle. The one occupant to be 37 years of age was found lying half way down the embankment with a severe broken leg and possible neck and back injuries. Advanced life support intervention was performed on the patient to help stabilise him further. He was placed on a specialised board and was given pain medication. The reaming two occupants, a male and a female were treated by other emergency personnel for various injuries. All three occupants were transported to New Somerset Hospital for further medical care.

It is unclear how the driver lost control but with the accident the male patient who seated at the back of the bakkie was ejected when the bakkie rolled and the canopy sheared off.
