[KOKSTAD – 14 SEPTEMBER 2011 AT 07H00]
A collision on the N2 between Kokstad and Harding, has left two people dead after a bakkie and an 8 ton truck carrying wood had a head on collision this morning.
ER24 service provider ResQmed arrived on the scene and found the two vehicles still in the middle of the road, with extensive damage to both vehicles. The two occupants of the bakkie, a male and female both believed to be in there 50’s were found still entrapped inside the vehicle. Unfortunately due to the traumatic and fatal injuries they had sustained they were declared deceased on the scene. Fire Department would need the Jaws of Life to extricate the deceased from the vehicle. The driver and passenger from the truck were unharmed in the accident.
It is believed that the wet weather and poor visibility could have being the cause of the accident but the local authorities would investigate further.
