A woman has been killed and another 12 injured after 5 vehicles were involved in an accident on the N14 Ben Schoeman Highway near the Trichardt Road Crossing in the direction of Pretoria.
The police who attended the scene will need to investigate the exact cause of the accident, but it is believe that the taxi rolled, whereby some of the occupants were ejected. The taxi came to rest on the side of the road, having rolled over one of the occupants. The woman had sustained extensive injury and paramedics who assessed her found no signs of life and she was declared dead on scene.
The remaining 12 people who had suffered injury in the accident, this including only one occupant of the other 4 vehicles, were treated for relatively minor injuries at the scene. They were all taken to hospital by ER24 and the local Provincial Ambulance service.
Traffic remains congested in the area as police are still at the scene.
