Back off taxi ripped off in side impact collision with truck in Roodepoort

[Roodepoort CBD 06 December 2011 08:00]

The back of a taxi was ripped off after an accident with a tuck at the corners of Inda and Van Wyk Streets in Roodepoort CBD this morning. The back seats were still stuck onto the front of the truck when paramedics arrived to treat the injured.

One man had suffered critical injuries. He needed Advanced Life Support treatment and was placed on life saving equipment before being taken to Leratong Hospital for further care. The other 10 patients were treated for minor to moderate injuries and they too were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The driver of the truck and driver of the taxi needed no further medical treatment as they had not been physically injured in the accident.

At this time it is not clear as to who was at fault in the accident, but police who attended the scene would investigate.
