Driver Crashes Into Dam in Polokwane

[POLOKWANE – 09 JANUARY 2012 AT 14H00]

Six people travelling in Toyota Run X on the N1 south about 5km outside of Polokwane lost control and drove into a dam that was next to the freeway this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics from Limpopo responded to the call and found the vehicle half submerged in the dam. The six occupants, one male and five female were found outside of the vehicle on the grass bank. The patients were assessed and found that the male had suspected neck and back injuries and was placed on a specialised board to protect his spine from any further injury. Three women were treated for minor cuts and bruises and the other two women did not sustain any injuries. The patients were transported to a nearby provincial hospital in Polokwane for further medical care.

It is believed that they were being over taken by another vehicle and the driver got worried as the motor vehicle was too close their vehicle as he came back into the lane. The driver moved over on to the grass verge causing them to lose control and drive into the dam.
