Two people were killed and five injured when their vehicle crashed into a lamp post in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg, on Saturday, Ekurhuleni metro police said.
The woman driver, 34, lost control of a five-door Proton on Rondebult Road, hit the kerb and crashed into the lamp post, said Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng.
The woman and a 14-year-old girl died on the scene.
Three other women and two men, between the ages of 42 and 30, were taken to the Tambo Memorial Hospital.
The cause of the accident would be investigated by the Ekurhuleni accident reconstruction unit, said Mokheseng.
