A 24 year old Wakeboarder sustained serious injuries this morning while boarding at the Vaaldam Nature Reserve in Deneysville.

The cause of the incident is unknown at this stage, but the Wakeboarder was being towed behind the boat when he sustained the injuries. The bystanders accompanying the man quickly rushed him out of the water.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the man by the side of the dam in severe pain. Due the injuries sustained and the distance to the nearest appropriate medical facility, on-scene paramedics promptly dispatched the ER24 Discovery Medicopter to the scene.

The patient then received treatment at the scene for a suspected broken right leg as well as suspected back and neck injuries. He was later airlifted to hospital for further medical attention.
