Paramedics Help Deliver Twin Babies On The Side Of The Road


[DURBAN – 07 MARCH 2012 AT 08H00]

ER24 paramedics from Durban were called to a woman that was about to give birth on the side of the road of the N2 just past the Umgeni Road in a motor vehicle this morning.

The paramedics arrived on the scene and found the woman outside of the car sitting on the verge. The woman who is in her late thirties had just delivered the babies as the paramedics arrived. They assisted her in the rest of the birth on the side of the road, making sure mother and twin baby girls were in good health. They transported mother and babies to King Edward Hospital in a stable condition where the maternity staff took over the medical care.

It is believed that the woman was on her way to the hospital when he water broke and started having contractions. ER24 staff wishes the mother and twin girls a health recovery.
