KIMBERLEY 22 April 2012, 14: 30

One man has died this afternoon following a serious motorbike collision in Kimberley.

The cause of the collision is unclear at this stage, but the man was driving on Earl road in the suburb of Homestead. The motorbike had allegedly veered out of control, catapulting the rider from the motorbike onto the road.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the 38 year old motorcyclist still in the road. The man had sustained serious injuries to his head and chest as well as suspected back and neck injuries.Paramedics treated the man at the scene before loading him into the ambulance for rapid transportation to Mediclinic Kimberley. Shortly after loading the patient into the ambulance the man’s condition started deteriorating rapidly.

Paramedics started resuscitation efforts on the patient while transporting him to hospital. Unfortunately the man was later declared dead at the hospital. Local law enforcement officials will be investigating the cause of the incident further.
