Motorbike slams into car on N1

[Randburg, GP 09 May 2012 07:30]

A 25 year old man has sustained moderate injuries after he crashed into the back of a car with his motorbike on the N1 north before the Malibongwe drive exit.

Apparently and according to bystanders, the woman in the hatch suddenly slammed on brakes and pulled slightly into the emergency lane. The bike then crashed into the back of the hatch with such force that the motorcyclist actually flew over the handlebars and through the back windshield. He was hanging half out of the vehicle while the woman carried on driving a short distance. A bystander stopped and tried to prevent the man sustaining further injuries by trying to prevent him from falling out of the back window, the woman was then alerted to the man hanging out of the back of her car and she stopped.

Fortunately it seemed that the 25 year old had only sustained moderate injuries and the ER24 JHB north branch manager came across the incident on his way to work. The young man was treated for injuries to his leg and he was then taken to Olivedale hospital by ambulance.

The woman and child in the hatchback luckily sustained no physical injuries.
