Cyclist survives collision with truck

[Potchefstroom 30 May 2012 08:00]

A man in his 40’s has miraculously survived a collision with a truck this morning on the N12 at the Roshnee turn off. It is believed that the truck was heading into the Potchefstroom Industrial area when the collision occurred.

Paramedics were called to the scene after there were frantic reports that the truck was still on top of the cyclist. When they arrived, the man was found lying just behind the rear tyres of the large container truck. He was quickly assessed and found to have only sustained broken bones to the lower part of his one leg, despite it appearing that the truck actually drove over his bicycle.

He was treated for his injuries at the scene before being loaded into the waiting ambulance for transport to the Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital.

No one else was injured in the accident.
