Pedestrian left with critical injuries in Pinetown

A man in his 30’s has been knocked down by a taxi on Railway road in Pinetown, leaving him with critical injuries.

The man appears to have been trying to cross the road when the impact with the taxi occurred. The damage to the taxi was minimal, but paramedics found the man to have sustained a severe head injury. The head injury was the man’s only injury, and the Advanced Life Support paramedic on scene quickly took over the man’s care, placing him on life saving equipment.

One they had the man packaged onto specialised spinal immobilisation boards, they loaded him into the ambulance for transport to hospital. The patient was handed over to medical staff at RK Khans hospital where he will receive further medical care.

No one that had been travelling in the taxi at the time of the accident had sustained any physical injuries.
