Two dead one critical after car rolls off the R103

[Pietermaritzburg, KZN 05 July 2012 22:15]

Paramedics arrived on scene of a fatal accident on the R103 between Ashburton and Lynfield Park.

A Toyota Yaris had rolled off the road and come to rest on its side in the driveway of a residence. Two women had already died on scene due to extensive injuries and they remained trapped in the mangled wreck of the car, both of them being declared dead a short while later. A third woman, appearing to be in her 30’s, had survived the accident but she was in a critical state and paramedics quickly but carefully pulled her from the crumpled remains of the car and started treating her for severe injuries. The Advanced Life Support paramedics used specialised equipment to take over her vital functions and stabilised her as best he could on scene before the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital for further advanced medical care.

The reason as to the driver losing control of the vehicle causing it to roll off the road remains to be investigated  by the local police authorities.
