A family of three sustained various injuries this afternoon following a single vehicle collision on the R34 near Riebeeckstad.
The exact cause of the collision is unknown, but the vehicle had allegedly veered out control before leaving the road and colliding head-on with a roadside wall. ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that a father, mother and their eight year old son had sustained various injuries.
The eight year old son received on scene treatment for suspected back and neck injuries as well as for broken bones to both legs. The father sustained suspected back and neck injuries as well as an injury to his shoulder. The mother received on-scene treatment and transportation from the scene by another ambulance service.
The father and the son was transported to a nearby medical facility by ER24. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
