Pedestrian dies after being knocked by a bakkie

An elderly man has died due to extensive injuries after being knocked by a vehicle on the Deneysville/Villiers road.

Paramedics were called to the scene where a pedestrian is believed to have been knocked down by a car. They arrived on scene to find that the man who appeared to be in his late 60’s had already died due to the injuries that he had sustained. He was lying just behind the front tyre of the car, and there was nothing more that could be done for him. Paramedics declared him dead on scene.

The driver and only occupant of the Toyota bakkie was shaken by what had happened but he was fortunately not injured. He left the scene privately after being advised of trauma counseling.

The Vaal Rand police will be investigating the details leading to te cause of the fatal accident.
