One man has died and 16 others sustained various injuries following a serious head-on collision between a bakkie and a minibus in Vanderbijlpark this evening.
The events leading up to the collision is unclear, but when ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found that the front end of the bakkie had been obliterated by the minibus. One man from the bakkie had sustained various fatal injuries and was unfortunately later declared dead at the scene.
One female patient, believed to be aged in her 70’s, had sustained a suspected back, neck and hip injury. Paramedics administered Advanced Life Support treatment to the lady before transporting her to a nearby hospital.
A further 15 patients received treatment at the scene for injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries to various scrapes and bruises before being transported to nearby medical facilities in various ambulances.
Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
