Woman Crashes Bakkie On The N3

[NOTTINGHAM ROAD, KZN – 22 AUGUST 2012 AT 13H30]

A female driver believed to be in her early sixties has sustained serious injuries after losing control of her bakkie on the N3 direction Pietermaritzburg just past Nottingham Road this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics from Pietermaritzburg arrived on the scene and found the bakkie on its wheels with extensive damage to the car. The driver was found outside of the vehicle. Paramedics assessed the patient and found she had a suspected neck and back injury and multiple cuts and abrasions. The paramedics used a specialised board and Advanced Life Support intervention to help stabilise her before transporting her to Northdale Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

It is believed that the woman lost control of her vehicle while going around the bend in the N3 and rolled numerous times before coming to a halt in the road.
The local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
