A man in his late 30’s has been killed in an accident that took place on the N3 at the Buccleuch interchange this evening.

A new Mitsubishi Colt bakkie is believed to have been traveling South bound on the N3 when it collided with the rear of a fuel tanker truck. This impact caused the driver to lose control of the bakkie and it rolled numerous times. The body of the bakkie was badly crushed, and the driver had been killed, trapped in his seat inside the cabin. No more could be done for him and he was declared dead.

The passenger has been ejected from the bakkie and he had miraculously only appeared to have sustained scrapes and abrasions. Paramedics treated him for possible neck and back injuries as well as the scrapes and he was then taken to Sunninghill hospital for further care.

The damage to the fuel tanker was minimal and no one else had been injured.
