Five men aged between thirty and fifty have lost their lives after drowning in a bay at a sewage treatment plant in Homeballe in Kimberley this afternoon.

ER24 and other emergency services were call to the scene and were notified that the five men were inside the bay and were allegedly repairing a pipe when the incident took place. It’s believed that they may have gone unconscious due to the toxic fumes from the sewage.

The area that they were in then filled up with water and sewage causing all five men to then drown. The necessary authorities were able to eventually get all five bodies out of the area and were declared deceased on scene.

The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the incident further.
